Behind the advice
A later high-end chip update is reported
MacRumors, citing Bloomberg, reports M7 Pro and M7 Max chips for high-end Macs in 2027 and includes the higher-end Mac mini. Apple has not confirmed that roadmap.

Models covered
The base and Pro options count as one generation when announced together. The 2026 lineup pairs M6 with M5 Pro; it does not include an M6 Pro.
When is the next model expected?
MacRumors reports high-end M7 chips for 2027. That roadmap does not give a confirmed date for a replacement to the base M6 Mac mini.
